Overview
The term pregnancy is the development of one or more offspring's termed as fetus or embryo in women's uterus. Throughout pregnancy period women feel very tired and sleepy just because of the constant changes taking place in the body due to baby's development. Women's body is constantly protecting and helping to nurture the developing baby and this starts from the primary stage of pregnancy.



Why it is difficult to sleep during pregnancy?

  • Heartburn: In the course of pregnancy the digestive system slows down and due to this food remains in stomach for longer time and this results in heartburn. Thus the pregnant women suffering from heartburn find difficult to sleep well.

Here are the two sleeping position mentioned that you should evade during pregnancy:
  • Sleeping on your back: This can't be comfortable for you because your total body weight will lie on your spine, back muscles, intestines, and major blood vessels which could leave you suffering from severe pain.
  • Front sleeping: This position is also very hazardous to your baby because if you sleep in front position then it will harm or crush your baby by putting surplus pressure on your womb.

Tips for sleeping comfortably during pregnancy
The following are the tips for sleeping comfortably during pregnancy:
  • Drink Water: Throughout pregnancy you should drink maximum water but avoid drinking it before bedtime.
  •  Exercise and keep moving: One of the most important tip is exercise regularly which will help your mind to be relax and improve your blood circulation. Avoid exercising during afternoon because it releases adrenaline into your body which will keep you awake at night. You should do your exercise during morning time for your optimum health.
  • Reduce stress and anxiety: Most women have a habit of taking stress during pregnancy. This leads to sleepless nights. So no worries no stress should be taken throughout pregnancy. At this time you should share your worries with your friends or professionals so that it will help you to calm down. This helps you to sleep easily at night.
  • Doctor's consultant: During pregnancy you should regularly consult your doctor. You should discuss about the problems you face during this period.
  • Maintain your Diet: Eat a well-balanced diet. You should eat healthy foods so that your body gets maximum nutrients which will be beneficial for your baby. At this period you should avoid smoking, alcohol consumption, drugs and those things that will harm your baby.
  • Support your body: While sleeping use your special pregnancy body pillow or a regular pillow which will assist you to sleep comfortably throughout the nights.
  • Get into a routine: Maintain a routine before sleeping like reading books, drinking hot milk, preferring a cup of caffeine-free tea to sleep comfortably.
  • Keep heartburn at bay: Take at least 20 minutes of walk after having lunch or dinner to avoid having heartburn. Stop eating acidic, fried foods or spicy food that leads to heartburn.
